What is it?

Here’s what the website says (www.lush.co.uk):

The Baby Face bar is another of our solid cleansers which we developed in order to avoid using preservatives on the skin. It melts on the skin so you can softly smooth it all over the places which need cleansing (it’s an excellent make-up remover) then to take it off use warm water on 100% cotton wool or a face cloth and you will be astonished at both how lovely and soft your face feels and how clean the Baby Face gets it. Each smiling bar has four different natural plant butters in it to remove dirt and put back moisture. Its lovely scent comes from toning tangerine oil, narcissus (which we use to make you so beautiful you’ll want to look at your reflection all the time) and everlasting flower (to give you everlasting beauty).

I have very dry, sensitive skin and found most cleansers to be quite drying and not always good at removing everyday grime. I decided to try Baby Face because it looked pretty bland and said it was useful at removing makeup. The first time I used it, it felt pretty strange as I wasn’t used to an oil based cleanser. Now I won’t use anything else.

I use it by running my hands under warm water. Then I take the bar and roll it over in my hands a few times. Next, press the product onto my face and start to work it in with gentle circular motions paying special attention to the eye area. Then I take a warm muslin cloth and gently wipe the skin and finish by splashing warm water on my face. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and supple. My skin never feels tight afterwards so no need to moisturise. And the smell! What can I say, it’s just gorgeous.

At £3.85, this cleanser is excellent value for money as it will last you a good few months. At Lush, they are very concerned about the environment which makes them appealing to me as a brand. Baby Face is one of their products that comes naked - this means it’s sold without any packaging. How fab is that?! No waste to recycle or bin. How do you store it then? Well, I purchased one of Lush’s re-usable tins. They are designed to house their solid shampoo bars but it’s the perfect size for baby face too.

Pros:

  • Great at removing tough to clean makeup like eyeliner and mascara
  • No need to  moisturise after use
  • Doesn’t leave skin feeling tight like soap
  • Good value for money
  • Smells lovely
  • No bottles to recycle when finished
  • Won’t irritate eyes
  • Small and portable

Cons:

  • Some people may find it too heavy or oily

Lush’s Baby Face Cleanser is one my faves. I would definitely recommend this to people that haven’t tried it yet. What do you think?
